AKLAN VISIT

Posted by Meryl (proud pinay)

We visited grandma's house at Numancia, Aklan. Five minutes away from Kalibo. Glad to see again my grandmother after a few years and glad to meet my other relatives as well. Tita Macy who cooked our everyday meal, Tita Elma who prepared a lot of delicious dishes, Tito Kano (Tita Elma's husband who is an American), my cousins and other relatives. I can see the happiness of my mom from her eyes when she saw my grandmother and other relatives again... she really missed them a looot. We also spent long day at the beach(not Bora) which is just few minutes away from my grandma's house. There were no noise bands and parties like that in Boracay. Just us, the waves (that invites everbody for surfing), the long beach and the beautiful and relaxing scenery. We also went to Gaisano Mall(of the Gaisano family-owned mall chains in the Visayas) and Kalibo Public Market which is considered one of the biggest markets in Aklan where you can find fresh fruits, vegetables, fish, poultry and meat products. We attended the mass at Kalibo Cathedral, a beautiful church with magnificent interior, elegant altar, special light effects and spotlights when the choir sings, when the priests preach, when the lector and commentators read and others that adds solemnity during the mass which is not common to the churches here in Manila. Beside the church is the Aklan Catholic College (where mom graduated as Cum Laude) and a spacious plaza infront of the church.Aklan is a very nice place...free from pollution and noise! Quite relaxing!(Note: This was my experience in the year 2005 and my review of AKLAN, PHILIPPINES )
