AVILON ZOO

Posted by Meryl (proud pinay)

My family and I were mesmerized by the natural beauty of the Avilon Zoo especially the intricate design of some of its architectures. This 7.5 hectare park that contains beautifully landscaped gardens and man-made lagoons and more than thousands of really cool animals (mostly are rare) is worth visiting and it brings out the inner kid in me ^_^. The cages and species of animals are arranged artistically, creatively and not at all crowded. We paid an in-house tour guide and it took us 2 and a half hour to roam around the zoo. It's really huge and you can get lost in it. We never get an oppurtunity to freely roam on our own coz we were so tired especially the kids and we were sweating a lot because of the hot weather. We took pictures along the tour, but there are areas where taking pictures is prohibited to prevent the nocturnal animals on reacting to the camera flash. One of the most memorable part of the tour was the bird show, wherein we were allowed to pet the owl(who can turn his head by 180 degrees on both directions) and eagles! We had pictures with an owl on one hand and with an eagle too. My mom fed the giant arapaimas (huge fishes that can grow up to 12ft) with chicken heads(10-20pesos per head of the chicken) and there's also a cute young orangutan feeding the huge arapaimas. We had chance to touch a python and chatted with the cool talking Myna. We were lucky that we heard one of the parrots, her talking prowess. All of these made our trip worthwhile and memorable. There are also some pets for sale. There are also activities like fishing, boating and eating. There were a lot of species in the zoo, but some have no name tags in their cages, maybe that's why there is a tour guide to do the talking hehe.Avilon zoo continues to develop the property. They still don't have the large animals, like elephants and giraffes but they were already constructing their area. The cr in the zoo is nice...very clean and cozy.

Some animals in the zoo are:
