LA MESA ECOPARK REVIEW

Posted by Meryl (proud pinay)

While I was browsing through my pictures, I ended up staring at our pictures last year in La Mesa Ecopark. I decided to share it with you as well as to make a review about it.

La Mesa Ecopark is an ecological park located in the heart of Fairview Quezon City. If you are exhausted from busy streets and busy life in Metro Manila this is a great place to be with just an entrance fee of P50 for adults. But if you are a Quezon City resident you can avail of the discount, just present a valid proof of residency and you can pay P40. For QC students with valid ID - P20 and for QC Senior Citizens with valid ID it's for free.

There are security guards that will check your belongings as alcoholic beverages are not allowed inside the park. Once you enter the Eco Park you will be greeted by the abundant green and huge trees that are lined up at the side of the road leading to the park. Or you may also ride in the shuttle owned by the park that looks like a jeepney free of charge.

PICNICKING.There are several spacious areas where you can simply place your picnic mats and enjoy picnicking while being surrounded by trees and plants. Or you may want to use the picnic area with tables and grilling facilities around the park but you have to be there early so you can claim it for your group. You may even set up a tent in camping sites that abound in the park. There are sinks where you can wash your dirty hands and dishes.
FISHING AND BOATING.If you want to go fishing, go to the fishing wharf and rent a fishing rod for P20. If you are lucky to catch a fish you will pay P80 per kilo and you may grill it. You may also enjoy boating in the lagoon with the rent fee of P100 per 30 minutes. The boat has a maximum of 4 adults.
SWIMMING. The whole family may enjoy the swimming pool which is the park's centerpiece and is surrounded by big trees. It attracts a lot of swimmers daily especially on weekends. The pool is operated from 9AM to 4PM and you have to pay a separate admission fee of P80 and P40 for 3ft and below.
BIKING, JOGGING, HIKING, WALKING IN THE TRAILS. I'm sure kids will love biking around the trails. They provide bikes that you can rent from P50 to P80 (depending upon the type of bike)in per hour basis. You can also do jogging, plain hiking or simply walk along the trail while enjoying the nature.
BUTTERFLY TRAIL AND HATCHERY. If you want to enjoy the colorful and wonderful world of butterflies you can go to the butterfly trail and hatchery.
ORCHIDARIUM AND SHELL FLOWER TERRACES. There is also an orchidarium where you can see various species of plants and the Shell Flower Terraces which is the dam wall of the reservoir are really attractive.
AMPHITHEATER PAVILIONS AND FUNCTION HALLS. Concerts and other Events can be held at the amphitheater but if you want to hold a special celebration you can rent their pavilions and function halls.
PLAYGROUNDS, ZIPLINE, WALL CLIMBING. You may enjoy playing on playgrounds, zip line or climb on their wall climbing facility.

La Mesa Ecopark is in the heart of the La Mesa Dam Watershed which is the source of the Metro Manila water supply.

Directions:
By public transport: You can go there by riding a Fairview-bound jeepney. You will pass by Ever Gotesco and Litex. Ask the driver to drop you off at the East Fairview Subdivision gate then ride the trike to the ecopark.
By car: Drive along Commonwealth Avenue, you will pass by Litex and Fairview Market. As soon as you pass the market on your left, look for the first corner on the right which is the Winston Street. Then turn right. Next turn left at the first corner which is the Dunhill Street. Follow the road until you reach the bridge.
