EASTER EGG/ EASTER SUNDAY

Posted by Meryl (proud pinay)

Hi guys! Are you excited about celebrating Easter Sunday? How are you gonna celebrate it? Maybe if you are a parent with little kids you might conduct an Easter egg hunt. Wouldn't it be fun doing the old tradition of dying or painting chicken eggs or do the modern custom of substituting chicken eggs with chocolate eggs or plastic eggs filled with confectioneries? Oh, I'm so excited to do this tradition with our daughter soon! It's pretty fun hiding some eggs that she will have to hunt for on Easter morning. Anyway, I wanted to share with you a picture of the Easter egg that my father-in-law painted for last year's Easter...

Hey moms and dads, grandpas and grandmas! Are you ready to paint some Easter eggs and conduct an Easter egg hunt with your kids or grandchildren on Easter Sunday? I'm sure it would be fun seeing the kids enjoying hunting for Easter eggs in the morning of Easter Sunday. Plus a special Easter dish like ham, potatoes and vegetables would be a great meal for the family.

Speaking of Easter, On Easter Sunday (April 4, 2010) Amazon MP3 Will offer an "MP3 Daily Deal" on the digital album Ultimate Countdown Kids Collection: 200 Sing-A-Long Favorites for only $3.99. This is a very great deal, as you can save a lot- around $8, since the digital album normally sells for $11.99. I suggest that you check out the list of 200 kiddie songs online. You can even play and preview all of them. This is a great collection of songs for your kids to enjoy and sing. Oh, I remember some of the songs that I loved to sing when I was still a kid like B-I-N-G-O, Jack and Jill, Old Mac Donald Had a Farm, Old King Cole and more which are on the list of their Ultimate Countdown Kids Collection. I'm actually loving their collection of songs! Some of the songs bring back memories from when I was still a kid as well as the memorable moments I had with my parents and sister as we would sing those songs together. I might actually get this for my niece and nephew so we can sing together too. Anyway, the music is in MP3 format which is compatible with MP3 Players (including the iPod®), iTunes and Windows Media Player. I'm pretty sure your kids will love it and you may enjoy singing along with them.

MY PRENATAL CHECK UP

Posted by Meryl (proud pinay)

Just got back home from my check up. So far everything is great- my weight, blood pressure, urine, as well as the heart beat of my baby. In the next two weeks, I will have another prenatal check-up for a glucose screening test. Plus, I was scheduled by my doctor to attend the "Epidural Anesthesia for Childbirth" class. Epidural anesthesia is a form of pain control used during labor, and because this is an invasive procedure, the doctor feels it is important to learn the benefits and risks of epidural. In this class, a video will be presented to provide information about the procedure.

MY FAVORITE HORMEL CHILI AND DINTY MOORE RECIPES

Posted by Meryl (proud pinay)

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Hormel Foods. All opinions are 100% mine.

My spouse and I love chili! We have it most of the time during winter or prepare it whenever we crave it. Hmmm...I'm actually craving chili now. Oh, I also miss the special chili that my mom always prepared for me when I was still a kid during cold nights. Anyway, I might actually buy Hormel chili tomorrow and prepare one of my favorite recipes for my snack- the Cheese Chili Dip. It's quick and easy to prepare so if you want to try it here's the recipe:
Ingredients:
1 can Hormel chili
1 package shredded cheese
1 package cream cheese
1 package chips to dip
Directions:
Put 1 package of cream cheese in dish. Pour 1 can of Hormel chili on top of cream cheese, then 1 package of shredded cheese on top of chili. Put in microwave for 1 minute or until cheese is melted.
Enjoy with chips!

Isn't easy? If you want more easy and delicious chili recipes, I suggest you visit www.hormelfoodsrecipes.com and get more ideas for your next meal. There are lots of recipes I found in the site that I would love to try soon. In the next few days I might also prepare the Chicken Pot Pie recipe with the use of a can of Dinty Moore Chicken & Dumplings. How about you, what 's your favorite way to eat hormel chili and Dinty Moore?
By the way, do you know how Hormel chili and Dinty Moore product ads and labels have evolved? It was in the 30s that characters from “Bringing Up Father”- Jiggs and Maggie, were used in Dinty Moore advertisements. Later, a lumber jack character was introduced, proclaiming “First name’s Dinty, last name’s Moore,” who placed his signature thumbprint on every can. Utilizing celebrities proved to be a popular route in promoting Hormel chili. Ray Milland, star of “Copper Canyon,” appeared in print ads. In the 80s, pro football player Fran Tarkenton was tapped to promote Hormel chili.

Thanks to Hormel chili and Dinty Moore! I love their products so much, and guess what? They will be celebrating their anniversary soon! As support, I also encourage you to Tweet the following as I already did:

WE REGISTERED FOR PRENATAL CLASSES

Posted by Meryl (proud pinay)

Yes! We already registered for Prenatal classes and received our respective schedules. A couple of weeks from now, we will be busy attending the "Prepared Childbirth" class and "Life With a Baby" class designed to help parents in providing many answers on subjects relating to the birth of the baby. Geeez! I'm really looking forward to these classes! hehe. As first time parents, my husband and I want to become more knowledgeable and be prepared for the coming of our baby.

In "Prepared Childbirth" class we will be given information about pregnancy, labor and delivery, what to expect during the hospital stay, what to expect after going home, and getting to know our newborn. Videos and labor comfort techniques are also included. Plus, they will also tour us around the Birthing Center/Hospital.
In "Life with Baby" class, we will learn how to take care of our newborn once she arrives. Having a baby is something new to us so this class will really be a big help for first time parents like us. Car seat safety, fundamentals of CPR, as well as baby basics will be discussed here. We need to bring a baby doll to help practice diapering and swaddling techniques. Yes! Now my hubby will have no more excuses about changing the diaper of the baby! We will both learn from this class. Hooooray! ^_^

CERTIFIED NURSING ASSISTANT TRAINING

Posted by Meryl (proud pinay)

A cousin of a friend is interested in attending a Certified Nursing Assistant training since CNA is very in demand in almost every city in the country. CNA training is also a good start for her future career, a perfect entry level position to get her foot in the door for more advanced training in nursing. She thinks that the training is also a good choice before she invests years of study at a university in a nursing course. It is also a good opportunity for her to decide if a nursing career is really right for her since it will provide her a preview of the nursing experience. She read about cna training information and got so interested in it. Aside from that, she could be on her way to a financially rewarding new career in just 6-12 weeks of training.

PRAYING FOR MY MOM'S RECOVERY

Posted by Meryl (proud pinay)

I received sad news from my sister that my mom is currently confined to the hospital. She suffered from a mild stroke (for the first time) and is still recovering after 6 days now. Her blood pressure drastically changes (sometimes it's high and sometimes very low) but thankfully the numbness that she felt on the left side of her body now subsides and she can talk normally again. She is under medication and some medical tests will be given to her by her doctors. Hoping and praying for her fast recovery.

PREGNANCY BOOK - "WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU'RE EXPECTING"

Posted by Meryl (proud pinay)

Being pregnant is something new to me so from the time I knew I was pregnant, I read a lot and watch videos about pregnancy. Aside from searching online, I love to read the pregnancy book given to me by my sister-in-law entitled "What To Expect When You're Expecting" (4th edition) by Heidi Murkoff and Sharon Mazel. It is a very good pregnancy resource that answers all the questions of a mother-to-be like me, from the planning stage through postpartum. It features a week-by-week look at the growth of the baby and complete chapters on pregnancy lifestyles including 9 months of eating well, preconception, labor and delivery, carrying twins and a lot more. Aside from that, this book also guides fathers-to-be and will reassuringly answer their questions. This book is full of useful information and advice. It's like having a personal obstetrician to guide you. Any topic you can possibly think of about pregnancy can be found here. This book has it all! I love it!I am reading this book in my free time or whenever. I'm actually done reading the 1st to 14th Chapter of this book, the 14th Chapter being the "The Ninth Month". The next chapter would be about "Labor and Delivery". Looking forward to reading more and learning more next week. If you are looking for a pregnancy book, I highly suggest you check out this one.

One of my friends is still undecided if she will get a credit card or not because some of her officemates advised her not to get it while others say that having a credit card is advantageous. Well, there are several advantages and disadvantages of credit cards, right? It depends on how you handle it. It can become a liability if not handled carefully especially if you loose control of your spending because you find it so convenient to use. On the other hand, it can be an asset to your lifestyle if handled properly. My friend asked my opinion about this and I messaged back in return giving her some guides that I found online which will help her decide and for her to understand how credit cards can be used to her advantage as well as their disadvantages. How about you guys? What are your experiences in handling your credit cards? Is it advantageous to you or not? Can you give some suggestions or your opinions of having a credit card if it is good or not, based on your personal experience. Thanks!

I'M NOW ON MY 25TH WEEK OF PREGNANCY

Posted by Meryl (proud pinay)

I'm now on my 25th week of pregnancy! It's hard for me to sleep these past few days, especially now that my tummy is getting bigger and bigger. I always sleep on my sides (which is advisable for pregnant women) and usually flip back and forth. My back is aching whenever I wake up and get up from the bed. I am also experiencing leg cramps but of course they're part of pregnancy and these aches will soon end once the baby arrives. I can't wait to see her! Btw, I can feel even the small and slow movements of my baby aside from her punches and kicks. It's the best feeling that a mom-to-be could ever feel.

Here's what a 25 week old baby somewhat look like (Image source babycenter.com):A 25 week old baby can now measure 9-13 inches in length and more than 1 and a half pounds in weight. My baby is now beginning to exchange her long, lean look for some baby fat and her wrinkled skin will begin to smooth out. She will start to look more and more like a newborn now! She's also growing more hair. Her nostrils which have been plugged up until now, are starting to open up this week and this enables her to begin taking practice "breaths". My baby's vocal cords are functioning now, leading to occasional hiccups.

WEDDING ACCESSORIES AND OTHER THINGS NEEDED FOR THE WEDDING

Posted by Meryl (proud pinay)

Three and a half more months to go till the wedding of my friend! In my previous post, I mentioned that I am helping out my friend with her wedding preparation and all but unfortunately I can't attend her wedding because it's the due date of my baby. I gave her a list of things to do and what she needed for the wedding ceremony and wedding reception. So far the wedding preparation is going smoothly. She already booked the church and wedding reception venue, and already had an appointment with the bridal gown designer. We are also done choosing the design for the save the date cards that will be given to the invited guests and now we are working on the wedding accessories she needs. Wedding Unity Candles, ceremony decorations, wedding programs, ring pillow, wedding guest books & pens, flower baskets, wedding memorials, wedding aisle runners, wedding napkins, wedding coasters, reception decorations, wedding glasses, toasting flutes, wedding mugs, place cards & holders, wedding cake server sets, wedding cake toppers, card boxes & well wishes, wedding menu cards and wedding garter are the accessories we are looking for online. Thankfully, we have found a website offering wedding accessories with beautiful designs and great prices and where we can order all of the accessories from. I really like weddings and I am fond of helping my friends and relatives who need my help. What I am looking forward to the most is the wedding of my sister. Hopefully she'll get married in the next two years and I would love to help her out as well.

CIRCULAR SAW BLADE

Posted by Meryl (proud pinay)

It's warm outside today! I hope the weather remains the same in the next couple of weeks because it's been raining here these past few days. It's nice to feel the warmth of the spring season after the very long winter. My spouse and I have plans of having some outdoor activities in the next few days and I can't wait for it! How about you? Do you have any plans yet for this spring season? Anyway, we received a call from one of the friends of my spouse who will be celebrating his birthday next week so we might possibly attend his birthday celebration too. We are thinking of giving him a circular saw blade that we have seen online since he mentioned during the conversation that he and his wife have plans of renovating their house next month but they have no tools yet to start with. I think a circular saw blade is a good gift idea for his birthday because it is very useful in renovating his house to cut wood or other materials. I hope he will like it.

By the way, if you guys are looking for circular saw blades, I suggest that you visit the link in this post. They carry all types of saw blades for any job. Whether you are looking for a saw blade used for ripping, crosscutting (or combination of both), or for cutting plywood, hollow ground, dado, engineered lumber, masonry tile, steel, glass, concrete, ceramic materials and more they have it all. Their blades are made from different materials in which each will determine the life and performance of the blade. They have steel blades, high speed steel, carbide tipped circular and diamond saw blades. Some of the blade brands they carry are Diamond, Bosch, Tenryu, CMT, Lenox, Rockwell and Fein. Do you need help in selecting the saw blade you need? Visit them now and their experts will be happy to assist you.

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Hiltons of Branson. All opinions are 100% mine.

Glad that winter is finally over! Spring is one of my favorite seasons of the year. Aside from the perfect climate, the trees and flowers are blooming this time of year. It's nice to see the greenery again and different colors of flowers around. I guess my spouse and I are tired of the long winter that we experienced this year and we are thinking of having some outdoor activities in the next few days. Hmmmm! How we wish we were in Branson right now and enjoying different attractions the place has to offer. One of the activities that we are planning to do the next time we go there is to have a romantic dinner cruise on the Showboat Branson Belle. From what I've heard they serve excellent meals and have professional shows with singing, dancing, comedy, and even some talking dogs, which are the stars of the night. We can also enjoy the magnificent views that can be seen from each of the four decks.
From our previous trip to Branson one of attractions that appealed to me the most was Silver Dollar City so we will definitely come back there again to experience more fun filled rides and enjoy other fun activities. Of course, we will definitely stay again at a Hilton Hotel, either at the Hilton Promenade at Branson Landing or Hilton Branson Convention Center. We might possibly get one of the hotel's special offers - the Golf Package, which includes unlimited golf for two, room accommodations and complimentary shuttle service between the hotel and the course. There is so much to do in Branson and I can't wait to spend another vacation there again. I miss Branson!

MEGAN MARIAH BARNES CRASHES CAR WHILE SHAVING BIKINI AREA!

Posted by Meryl (proud pinay)

Do you attempt to do multitasking while driving? Some of you may have done driving while texting or attending phone calls or even driving while doing make-up. How about driving while shaving your private parts?

Megan Mariah Barnes, a 37 year old woman from Florida crashed into another car as she was shaving her bikini area. She was on her way to meet her boyfriend at Key West and wanted to be ready for the visit. According to the police, her ex-husband, Charles Judy, was with her riding in the passenger seat and took the wheel while she was busy shaving her bikini line. Barnes crashed into the back of a pickup truck and allegedly drove another half-mile before they pulled over. She then switched seats with her ex-husband so that it looked like she had not been driving. Florida Highway Trooper Gary Dunick said that Judy had burns from the passenger side air bag that proved he had not been in the driver’s seat when the accident happened and that the air bag in the driver’s seat was not deployed. Barnes wasn't even supposed to be on the road because just one day earlier, she was convicted of DUI and driving with a suspended license. She could face a maximum sentence of a year in jail for violating her probation due to the wreck, if convicted.

Wondering if she accidentally injured herself with the razor in the crash? It wasn't mentioned in the news...but if she did...Ouch! LOL! ^_^

HOW TO DELETE SIMILAR FILES ON YOUR COMPUTER EASILY?

Posted by Meryl (proud pinay)

My sister is planning to organize the folders in her computer and find and remove duplicate itunes as well as other mp3 files, similar images and all files that may have different names but identical contents or duplicate files with the same name and/or file size to free up more space so she can add more important files she needs. When we chatted online she mentioned that finding duplicate files from each folder is time consuming as she has thousands of files stored on her computer. I searched online to find software designed to search for duplicate files and delete them as I might also use it to delete duplicate files in my laptop that I might not possibly need. Thankfully, I have found a free downloadable one! It can search for and delete similar images, music files and other files with identical contents and even empty files or files with zero size on Windows (Vista supported). Instead of looking through each folder one by one for similar files this shareware utility called Moleskinsoft's Clone Remover is fast and easy to use.

ONLINE GAMES FOR KIDS AND ADULTS

Posted by Meryl (proud pinay)

My nephew, aged 5 and my niece, aged 8 love playing puzzle games and other educational games on their computers. They are only allowed to play computer games during weekends after all of their homework is done. Spongebob Memory Matching, Pokemon Mystery Puzzle, Station Defender, Dressup, AE Pipes, Winx Hidden ABC are among of the few of the educational, fun and enjoyable games they are fond of playing at funbrain arcade. My niece's favorite of all is the Spongebob Memory Matching game. It is a simple yet effective game that can build up the child's memory to remember short term information, prevent memory deterioration at an early age and is very effective in improving studying and taking orders. My sister made each of them their own login name and password so they can play any games they want for FREE! My sister even registered herself and loves playing adventure, action, board game, driving, shooting, sports, casino, customize and strategy game. I think she got addicted to it. LOL! I actually registered too a while ago and I find it fun too!

LOCAL AND INTERNATIONAL WEATHER FORECAST

Posted by Meryl (proud pinay)

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of AccuWeather. All opinions are 100% mine.

My spouse and I are really looking forward to this month of March! I guess we got tired of the long winter that happened this year and we're so excited to do several outdoor activities again. Plus, Daylight Savings Time will begin on the second Sunday of March, meaning we can spend extra time in the outdoors enjoying the day. In the next few days or weeks we are planning on going out to do some recreational activities and enjoy the warm weather. Speaking of weather, weather completely dominates our everyday lives so whenever my spouse and I are planning on doing outdoor activities or traveling, we make it to a point that we check the weather forecast online first so we can make sure that we will enjoy the outdoors. We don't want any hurricane, thunderstorm or cold front to ruin our day so we always check the weather at AccuWeather.com. AccuWeather makes living with the weather easier for us. It gives hourly forecasts, extended, weekly and even whole month outlooks which are not available in other weather site. Aside from that it gives radar and maps, news and video and extreme weather forecasts. There are also new sections at their website like Weather and Health, Weather and Travel, Weather and Home and Garden, and Weather and Outdoor Activity, which include a variety of five-day forecasts for key weather-for-your-life parameters that allow users to plan for travel, recreation, business, exercise, medication and more. This coming Sunday, the weather will be great and it will not rain according to AccuWeather so we will go sailing! Oh I can't wait to enjoy again the outdoors after this long winter.

5 INEXPENSIVE FOODS YOU SHOULD EAT EVERYDAY

Posted by Meryl (proud pinay)

What do you usually eat to keep yourselves healthy? I wanted to share with you what I've recently read online. These are some of the inexpensive but healthful foods that you must eat for a healthier you:
1. Leafy Greens - is one of nature's miracle foods which prevents diabetes and high blood pressure.2. Whole grain- studies showed that a diet rich in whole grains actually flattens your belly by reducing fat storage in your lower abdominal region.3. Nuts- are high in natural fiber that slows our digestive process, keeping hunger and unhealthy mid-afternoon snacks at bay.4. Yogurt -improves digestion but make sure you choose those with "active cultures" in the label lists so you can get healthy probiotics. Also pick a yogurt rich in vitamin D to prevent osteoporosis.5. SAVE THE DATE POSTCARD

Posted by Meryl (proud pinay)

As I mentioned in my previous post, one of my friends will be getting married this summer but I think I can't make it to the wedding then because it's the due date of my baby. Anyway, I helped her in deciding which design to choose for her save the date postcards. She decided to distribute them this coming Friday to let her guests know in advance about her wedding so as to save that special day. Oh! I can see on her face how excited she was and I am so happy for her. It reminds me of the days when I was preparing for my wedding. Time really flies by so fast, it is as if I was just married yesterday and now I am pregnant and will be having my first baby soon! By the way, I might possibly make some save the date postcards too for my baby's baptismal celebration and her first birthday. Now, I am looking forward to her "firsts". I am one very excited parent-to-be!

I GOT MY ULTRASOUND RESULT!

Posted by Meryl (proud pinay)

I was scheduled for an ultrasound/sonogram last Thursday and my baby cooperated so well! My husband and I are so glad that the results were all fine. Here's what they commented:

  • the growth development of our baby is BETTER than average
  • the heartbeat is NORMAL
  • our 21 week old baby weigh 1 lb and 2 ounces which is NORMAL (the average weight of a 21 week old baby based on U.S. chart is 0.79 lb)
  • the baby is very ACTIVE: it was kicking, jumping and moving a lot which is a sign that it is HEALTHY
  • our baby is a SHE! We will be having a baby girl!!!
Oh! She is actually kicking now while I am typing this! Her initial fluttering movements that started on the 16th week turned into full-fledged kicks and nudges as weeks have gone by. We are so excited to see her soon!!!

By the way, here are some of her pictures:
