THE CO2 REDUCING VACHEVAL

Posted by Meryl (proud pinay)

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of goviral. All opinions are 100% mine.

Have you heard the story of the strange animal called vacheval? It was said that vacheval was a cross breed between a cow and a horse. It derived its name from the French word "vache" meaning cow, and "cheval" meaning horse. It looks like a small horse with two horns on its head (somewhat like a unicorn) with a body that looks more like a cow. It is talked about in the UK today by environmentalists in relation to CO2 reducing transportation and that it could be the answer to future environmental issues facing man-kind since today’s modern transportation and other modern technology has increased the levels of CO2 in the atmosphere. A video shot in 1963, which is previously unseen reported footage from Belgique Television shows the existence of vacheval and how it was reared as a form of CO2 reducing transportation. In the video below you can see the vachevals on their first test-deliveries-bringing croissants to mountaineers on Mont Blanc, bringing some water to thirsty cyclists, delivering cold beer to boules players in Bruges and more.

But in spite of their uses, no one actually knows if they still exist. There are also rumors that they live now in a special retreat in the Alps while others say they fled Europe in search of work. Until now, no one knows what had happened to vachevals, which could be the future CO2 reducing transportation.

Are those pandas and a tiger?
Nope! They are dogs dyed to look like pandas and a tiger. They played at the Dahe Pet Civilization Park in Zhengzhou, Henan province June 8, 2010. According to the local media, the park bought the Golden Retriever dyed to resemble a tiger and four Chow Chows dyed to resemble pandas from a pet market in Sichuan as an attempt to attract visitors. They also resemble the Asian country's endangered wildlife.

REAL SNAKE?!

Posted by Meryl (proud pinay)

Does the snake look real at first glance? ^_^ Up close it really looks real!
While we were strolling at the River's Edge area of the St. Louis Zoo in Missouri, we saw this fake snake along with it's eggs. I'm afraid of it the first time I saw it as it looks real plus it was positioned at the grassy area. Ssssssss.....

DEER IN THE YARD

Posted by Meryl (proud pinay)

I took this picture last week while my husband and I are talking outside the house. There are several deer here in our place and sometimes we can see them eating grass in the yard. Even though they are wild deer it's so nice to look at them just roaming around and eating grasses. Scenery like this makes me feel close to nature and feel relaxed aside from the ducks, fish, and turtles swimming in the pond that I see everyday. By the way, sorry for the blurry picture since I just zoom my camera to take a picture of it. I don't want to walk near them because they might be scared and run away.

More information:
Do you know that male deer of all species except for the Chinese water deer shed and grow new antlers each year? Yes! just wanted to share that with you ^_^. Most male deer are called bucks while the females are called a doe in accordance to it's species as well to it's size. The young deer are mostly called a fawn. The group of deer is called a herd. Deer is the same in the plural as in singular. Just like the term fish. If you are talking about more than 1 fish of the same species it's "fish" but if you are talking about more than one species of fish then it's "fishes". Other nouns with identical singular and plural are moose, sheep, salmon, trout and swine. Ok class, see you next time. L.O.L!

DO YOU REMEMBER THE CHILDREN'S SHOW BATIBOT?

Posted by Meryl (proud pinay)

Do you remember the children's show "BATIBOT"? I enjoyed watching this children's television program when I was still a kid back in the place where I live (Philippines). BATIBOT is to the Philippines what SESAME STREET is to the U.S. This show is very educational and I love to watch it even it was replayed several times. It used both English and Filipino as the media of communication of teaching children but the show became a completely Filipino language eventually. One of my favorite BATIBOT casts is Pong Pagong. He is a clumsy, pink full-body turtle wearing a baseball cap. I like the way he sings, dance and laugh! ^_^.
How about you, do you still remember Pong Pagong? It will reveal your age if you know who he is!haha! ^_^

Anyway, while I was looking at the pond yesterday, I again saw turtles swimming in it. I decided to take a video. Enjoy watching our Pong Pagong and his lover! ^_^

TURTLES IN THE POND

Posted by Meryl (proud pinay)

(click photo to enlarge)
Do you see two turtles swimming in the pond? I took this picture a few days ago at our backyard. I am fond of looking at the pond because aside from ducks, there are turtles (they are not snapper turtles) and fish swimming in it.

Whenever I see those turtles I remember the fun times I had 2 years ago together with my family and husband at Avilon Zoo where my nephew is so scared to touch the tortoise hehe.

We asked our nephew to touch the tortoise so we could take pictures together with it but he was afraid of it.hehe
