My heart has been “jumping” out of my chest lately. So much so that it made me really nervous and I went to see our family doctor. I thought that they would do a heart scan and a full work up because I was sure that something was really wrong. I was surprised when they didn’t do any of it. Instead the doctor ( who is a good family friend) started asking me questions about my stress level. I have been really stressed lately because I didn’t get into my doctoral program of choice, but I certainly didn’t think that it was connected to how funny and scary that my body had been acting lately. The doctor told me that he thought that I had been having panic attacks lately. Panic Attacks? Me I thought? I never even considered the fact that I was working myself up so much that I could be responsible for these.
