PLACES, PEOPLE, EVENTS, GOOD FOOD AND MY LIFE

Last weekend we went at Murphysboro to join the Apple Festival celebration. We watched the parade which lasted for about 2 hours. After the parade we enjoyed some fair rides, watched a band while eating and strolled around the fair grounds. There were about 20 (more or less) marching bands , floats, cheering squads from different schools, car shows, several mascots, beautiful ladies and cute little girls riding their floats, cars and golf carts, and other groups and organizations participated in the parade.

It was said that over 45,000 people attend the Apple festival each year. This festival is a five day celebration where numerous activities can be watched and enjoyed including an apple pie eating contest, evening stage shows, concessions, Ms. Apple Festival pageant, princess and prince contest, apple core throwing contest, Appletime 5K walk and run, museum exhibit, Apple time arts and crafts fair and more.

The Apple Festival in Murphysboro is now in it's 58th year! It will be held from September 16 to 20 at 13th & Walnut St. in Murphysboro, Illinois. It is the longest running family festival in Southern Illinois featuring the largest parade in the region!Click here for the 2009 Schedule.

All players and photographers will be chosen from members of the public. This one of a kind event is hosted by Sony in celebration of the power of its low light photography technology. The chosen locations have breathtaking views and are really perfect places to hold the event and great place for photography as well where you can see waterfalls,lush vegetation,deserts, castles and mountains and glaciers. These stunning world locations and amazing settings will really inspire both players and photographers. Six lucky photographers will go to South Africa and will participate as official photographers for the Final Twilight Football match. Plus they will have the chance to experience the latest Exmor R™ CMOS Sensor technology in action.

It's Demcy's birthday today! Yipeee! Dhemz is one of my online blogger friends whom I met in an online group discussion at the end of February 2009, where she and other Filipino bloggers were talking about earning money online. I got interested in their topic and so I contacted her and got the chance to chat with her. I felt very comfortable with her instantly even for the first time, talking about nearly everything. I really enjoyed the funny conversations we had! She is the one who helped me out with blogging stuff. Yes, she is very kind and helpful.

She is the reason why I am here in blogosphere! Yeah! She is my mentor in blogland and one of my inspirations too ^_^. By the way, according to an online dictionary, mentor is a wise and trusted counselor or teacher. Yep! that is exactly what she is! ^_^

I admire her as a smart blogger, as a responsible mom to her pretty daughter, as a loving and sweet wife to her husband and as a caring and helpful friend. I am so lucky that she considers me as one of her friends ^_^. HAPPY BIRTHDAY sistah Dhemz! You are a beautiful person inside and out! Love you!mwahugs! ^_^

Hi everyone especially to my family! As I mentioned yesterday in my previous post, here is the video of our Independence Day celebration held in my brother-in-laws' house.(It's hard to take a good picture of fireworks in the air so I am sharing with you the video.)

My husband and I had a great time during the Independence Day together with some friends(at my brother-in-laws' house). We played pool (billiards), grilled and smoked foods like shish kabobs, ribs and chicken and had a good talk with friends. One of their Indian friends brought marinated chicken called tandoori chicken which is really good. We started to light fireworks late in the afternoon until night time.

My husband was off work today and we will go to my parents-in-laws' house later for lunch. I am more excited for tomorrow, Independence Day that we will celebrate at my bro-in-laws' place with fireworks and food together with some friends.

Independence Day here in the United States is a federal holiday celebrated on the Fourth of July. The United States claimed its Independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain on July 4,1776 and so Democracy was born. Americans celebrate freedom and independence each year with barbecues, picnics, fireworks, parades, carnivals, concerts, baseball games, ceremonies and family gatherings. To all the people of America Happy Independence Day!

Yesterday, my brother-in-law smoked several meats like smoked ribs, smoked pork, shish kabobs, hotdogs, chicken, and burgers, in his house for our dinner. He generously gave us(my husband and I) almost all of it.hehe. He is also practicing his recipe for the fourth of July (Independence Day) since he have several visitors including us that will come over in his house . He really did a good job in preparing the food and the Louisiana rice was cooked perfectly. I'm so excited on Saturday because he bought several fireworks for the celebration and I will meet some of their friends at his house.

One of my friends whom I met here in our state invited us to attend her son's birthday party yesterday late in the afternoon. It's been a long time since I've seen her and other Filipinas from different towns nearby and I'm so glad to see them again. Of course, in an occasion such as this Filipino dishes are served like pansit, lumpia, adobo, pusit and several others aside from the usual American food. During the party there was this game called pinata which is the same as "pok palayok" back home where we hit the "palayok" with wooden bat while blindfolded. I remember when I was kid, every time I joined this kind of game I never won, other times I hit but will only leave a crack on the pot.hehe. Anyway, we had a great time at the party. I would like to greet Shane a Happy Birthday and thank you for inviting us. Also I'm glad to see again one of my friends who just arrived from Alabama with her cute baby.
