DENNY'S RESTAURANT REVIEW

Posted by Meryl (proud pinay)

I almost forgot to make a restaurant review for Denny's Restaurant after we ate there last month. Anyway, Denny's is one of my husband's favorite restaurants since he was still a kid. Being one of his favorite restaurants, almost all the food there tastes great he said. When we went there I already had my heavy meal at home because I didn't expect that he will arrive early so I just ordered strawberry cheesecake and chocolate milk shake for me which are so good. I am not a fan of strawberry cheesecake but Denny's cheese cake is so perfect that it really satisfies my taste buds. My husband ordered a club sandwich and nachos and they tasted great. I helped him the nachos though since it is a pretty big serving.

Denny's offers a huge selection of menus from breakfast, lunch, appetizers, dinner, desserts, senior and kids menu, beverages to all night service and even nutrition and allergens menus. Breakfast includes omelets, slams, scrambles, favorites, sweets and more. Their "Favorites" includes t-bone steak and eggs, top sirloin steak and eggs, country-fried steak and eggs, prime rib premium sizzlin' breakfast skillet, southwestern sizzlin' skillet. Sweets include fabulous french toast Platter, belgian waffle platter and pancakes. Their lunch includes chicken ranch melt, spicy buffalo chicken melt, and chicken deluxe salad. Specialty sandwiches include the super bird, BLT, club sandwich, chicken sandwich. Dinner includes chicken strips, grilled chicken, country fried steak, grilled shrimp skewers, mushroom swiss chopped steak, t-bone steak and shrimp and a lot more.

The presentation of the foods we ate are so great, so appealing to the eyes. The servers are very accommodating. The restaurant is clean and the ambiance is great.

APPLEBEES RESTAURANT REVIEW

Posted by Meryl (proud pinay)

My husband and I decided not to cook for dinner but had a dinner out instead at Applebees. Applebees is a casual dining restaurant located throughout the United States and other places in the world like Canada, the Middle East and Asian countries. They offer a huge variety of appetizers, salads, steaks, ribs and fajitas, chicken, seafood, pasta, sliders, burgers and sandwiches, desserts and beverages. They also offer menu items for children that your kids may enjoy.
(the picture is kinda blurry because we just use cellphone to take a picture of it)

For appetizers we ordered juicy and tasty Chicken Parmesan Tanglers. It's composed of sliced chicken breast tossed in a breading with some spices and fried to golden brown perfection, then sprinkled with parmesan cheese on top and served with marinara sauce.
I ordered grilled sirloin, topped with grilled shrimp and Italian cheeses with seasonal vegetables and mashed potatoes. The sirloin was perfectly grilled and juicy in every bite. But I find the shrimp with Italian cheeses kinda salty. The mashed potatoes were perfect and served in large servings. I like the way it was prepared.
My husband had grilled sirloin, fried shrimp, mixed vegetables and mashed potatoes. His grilled sirloin was also perfect and his fried shrimp were so tasty. The mixed vegetables and mashed potatoes were good too.For dessert we had delicious hot fudge sundae topped with whipped cream and maraschino cherry.

A VENETO NAPOLI PIZZERIA RISTORANTE REVIEW

Posted by Meryl (proud pinay)

A Veneto Napoli Pizzeria Ristorante is a casual Italian dining restaurant that has branches in Metro Manila and nearby areas. The place is ideal for group dining, since their servings are always good enough to share(2-3 persons). The restaurant offers a wide variety of pizza, pasta, starters and salads. Their Pizzas are tasty with medium crust. Pizza sizes are 10"(price ranging from P175 to P215), 14" (from P270 to P350), 16" (from 345- 480). You can even order a slice of pizza from P65-80. Their cheeseburger pizza and New York Pizza are good. Most of their pizzas and other dishes are good, depending on what you order. The pasta is cooked well, the sauces are good. Their nut pesto with hungarian sausage or chicken is good. Thumbs up for oil and garlic pasta with hungarian sausage which is loaded with that garlicky taste, very tasty and definitely worth the price. Serving size is 2 or even up to three persons. I would recommend the Veneto Family Platter for starters. Their baked mussels are good too.

The place is usually packed especially during lunch and dinner but it is also due to the fact that most of their branches are quite small so a little patience when waiting for a table. It is recommended that you have to be there early. The place is noisy, so it might not be the right place for you if you want a solemn and romantic first date. You will have to wait for about 10 to 15 minutes before the food is served. Overall, I'd give it a go, the food is not too pricey, considering most of their food are good and filling. It fits the budget.

REYES BARBECUE RESTAURANT REVIEW

Posted by Meryl (proud pinay)

Do you know that the owner of the Reyes Barbeque came from the same clan as the owner of the legendary Aristocrat Restaurant?
Francisco Reyes, the owner of Reyes Barbeque had been working since he was a teenager in the family's food empire, the Aristocrat. Wayback, his aunt asked him to run the franchised outlets of Aristocrat at Shangrila Mall and SM North but when leases lapsed in the year 2001, he thought of a business to replace them. In late 2003, the two food court stores were replaced by his brand name - Reyes Barbecue. Now they have several branches and franchises in Metro Manila and nearby areas.

The chain focused mainly on high-quality grilled or barbecue foods which they do spectacularly well unlike the Aristocrat restaurant which offer almost all Filipino dishes. They offer dine-in menu meals such as boneless chicken barbecue, pork barbecue, grilled bangus belly, grilled pusit and grilled liempo. Their meals are generally served with java rice, sweetish atchara(shredded pickled papaya) and their famous peanut sauce, which is really good. Each meal has a nice presentation, the smell is really enticing and the taste of each will give you gastronomic satisfaction as well. I guess the Reyes Barbeque boneless chicken is the company's flagship product today! The chicken is absolutely moist, tender, and flavorful. I also like their grilled liempo(pork belly) which is meaty, tender, not too fatty and absolutely flavorful. So delicious.

You might wait for 10 minutes or less for the food to be served. The prices are reasonable and will make your dining experience a highly satisfying one. The settings of some of their restaurants are cozy enough for social gatherings.

Note: This is my review of Reyes Barbecue, Philippines based on my experience last year.

ARISTOCRAT RESTAURANT REVIEW

Posted by Meryl (proud pinay)

Are you looking for a Filipino Restaurant serving flavorful barbecues? Aristocrat Restaurant is one of the Filipino Restaurants in Metro Manila and nearby areas serving good tasting barbecue! It is a 73 year-old Filipino restaurant that has been around since 1936, very old indeed!

You can browse through their menu of a wide variety of dishes with delicious pictures of their house specialties. My favorite food to order of course is barbecue, their house specialty. They have the "Aristocrat Chicken Barbecue", pork spareribs barbecue, Aristocrat Pork Barbecue and boneless chicken barbecue. I love the tender and flavorful grilled Chicken barbecue marinated in their signature barbecue marinade. It is served with Java rice which gives a perfect complimentary flavor to the barbecue. Atchara (pickled unripe papaya) as the side dish which is sweet and has a mild tart taste, balances the taste of the whole dish. Their delicious Java sauce as a dipping is really great and gives delightful taste. So Yummy!

They also have a wide variety of savory dishes-pork, beef, chicken, seafood and vegetable dishes, barbecue, noodles, sandwiches, dessert, soup, appetizers and other foods for snacking. Mouth watering pork dishes include crispy pata, lechon kawali, sinigang na baboy, lumpiang shanghai and tokwa't baboy. Bulalo, sinigang na baka, mechado, kaldereta, kare-kare and corned beef are a few of their beef dishes while chicken dishes include Chicken honey, chicken and Pork Adobo, South China Chicken. Their flavorful seafood dishes include paksiw na bangus, sinigang na bangus, sinigang na hipon and a lot more. Chopseuy, pinakbet and ampalaya con carne are really healthful vegetable dishes. For your beverage, you can choose juices, shakes, tea, canned softdrinks or bottled water. Solo meals and Big shot combo meals are available too.

You will be truly satisfied with their good tasting food but items are a bit pricey. The staff are friendly and accommodating. The service is just right, though you might wait for a few minutes before the food is served. Their famous Chicken Barbecue is definitely a must try!

YELLOW CAB DELIVERY REVIEW

Posted by Meryl (proud pinay)

A few weeks ago, I made two previous reviews about a wide variety of pizza, pasta and other foods that Yellow Cab Pizza has to offer. Now, I would like to share my review about its delivery. Last year, I held a farewell party together with my ex-colleagues in my last job. I called the pizza chain for delivery particularly at their branch at Quezon City. The employee that I've talk to gave me a warm greeting, took my order and asked the time of delivery. She was diligent and courteous enough to offer almost anything that I needed such as paper plates, tissue, sauces, forks and knives even if I'm not asking for it.Surprisingly, the delivery man brought the pizza in the office about 15 to 20 minutes ahead of time but I have no problem about it. He asked me to check if my order was correct and gave me the bill. I was satisfied with the delivery, the order was correct and the pizza was still hot and fresh so I handed him a tip.

We enjoyed the food and I am glad that even for the last time I had a great day together with my ex-colleagues and they were so sweet to surprise me with their baked brownies, pansit malabon and drinks.By the way, Did you know that the drama series aired in ABS-CBN Channel 2 "Iisa Pa Lamang" with main cast Claudine Barretto, Gabby Conception, Angelica Panganiban and Diether Ocampo was filmed in our office! ^_^ Remember the De la Rhea Foods by Catherine?

SBARRO

Posted by Meryl (proud pinay)

Are you in the mood for some quick Italian food that is not as expensive as going to a dine-in Italian restaurant?

We dont usually think of fast-food when eating Italian cuisine, most of us think of going to a sit-down restaurant. Sbarro is one of the few options in the world of fast- food for Italian food lovers. Yes,it is a fast food! It may not be as good as some of the sit- down Italian restaurants, but it’s far better than the majority of other fast-food restaurants.

Ordering the food is an easy process. Just walk up to the serving area, grab a tray, get in line, order from behind glass shield where you can view the food selections, tell the service crew what you want, or just smile and point at something ^_^. They'll be happy to get it for you. After you've received what you want, move through the line to the register, pay and find a seat. They usually have a lot of customers(especially during lunch time) but they keep the line moving in a friendly and efficient manner.

Sbarro primarily specializes in selling pizza. Often selling it by the slice to someone looking for a quick pizza fix. They offer different pizza options, like New York Style Thin Crust Pizza(cheese, hawaiian, mushroom, pepperoni, sausage, supreme), Gourmet Pan(meat delight, ham, pineapple and pepperoni etc.) and Stuffed Pizza(sausage & pepperoni, supreme etc). The stuffed pizza is the most filling of all. This stuffed pizza is piled thick and covered with a layer of crust, making it look like a pie.

A lot of times when ordering pizza by the slice, you get small slices, but not at Sbarro! The slices are absolutely and incredibley huge! Larger than what you would normally get at other restaurants(almost like 2 slices put together). With most people, a single slice is all they need to fill them up. It may not be the absolute best tasting Italian pizza but when you take into consideration the huge amount of serving and the speed of service (since it’s fast food), it’s hard to beat this pizza!

Last year when my hubby and I ordered a whole pizza for take out particularly at their branch in Mall of Asia. We can't decide at first whether to get his all time favorite pepperoni pizza or the supreme pizza that I prefer to have(which are of the same price). So I told him why not ask the crew to make a whole pizza for us...half pepperoni and half supreme. The crew accepted our order, we waited for a few minutes and got our whole pizza...hot and freshly baked.

And if you’re not a big pizza eater, Sbarro offers some tasty alternatives like pasta (baked ziti, spaghetti, lasagna etc.), calzone (ham and cheese, cheese etc) and other entrees (like chicken parmigiana, chicken francese etc.). Baked ziti is my favorite and is one of the big selling items. It is a long round pasta(or ridged, tubular pasta), with creamy ricotta, melted mozzarella and cheese and seasoned tomato sauce that could really hit the spot. It tastes so good and looks mighty tempting. This is the by far the best thing at Sbarro. The baked ziti I had before was freshly made. The pasta was al dente and the sauce was piping hot.

If you are not too hungry, you can get a salad(chicken macaroni, green garden, ceaser salad, fruit salad etc.)and cake desserts (cheesecake is good).

For beverages, Sbarro offers soft drinks, tea, coffee, and sometimes
juices.

Overall I recommend Sbarro. A good fast- food restaurant, with quick, friendly service and good food. Prices are reasonable for an Italian cuisine and pizzas that are so filling. You can get a great meal at a fair price and if you're up for a pizza that's a cut above
the rest, try their stuffed pizza!!!

Your kids may also love watching the pizza-making process through the large glass windows in some of their branches like Mall of Asia and SM City North Edsa.

CONTI'S PASTRY SHOP AND RESTAURANT

Posted by Meryl (proud pinay)

When I'm craving for a superb cake, the first resto that comes into my mind is Conti's Pastry Shop and Restaurant. Conti's is home to delicious food and famous for its cakes and pastries. This restaurant features a mix of Filipino, European, Chinese , Spanish, American, and a few Japanese dishes (that mix draws people to Conti’s!). They have branches in Trinoma, Serenda, Greenhills and Paranaque. It also offers catering and banqueting services.

They serve wide variety of savory dishes, appetizers, soups and salads. Some of their meat and seafood entree include lengua estofaco, roast beef, ribeye steak, american grilled ribs, tofu steak, baked prawn, salmon teriyaki, sinigang na salmon etc. Their best seller baked salmon is superb. Very tasty and served with mixed vegetables and paella rice.

Fabulous and enticing desserts such as cakes(the house specialty), pastries, native desserts, bread, pies and cookies. I like their cakes and pastries...worth every penny and suggestive presents to your friends as well. Their chocolate overload is great...so yummy!! Absolutely divine and you'll never be disappointed. Some of my friends love the mango bravo. They also serve good pasta that come in lovely presentation. I love how this restaurant makes you taste and see how much heart and preparation they put into each meal and concoction.

The staff are courteous and attentive to your needs but service can be slow at times but I guess the taste of the food makes up for that. Still, definitely worth the wait.
The ambiance is very cozy, set up is nice and the place is clean.
Good and satisfying food for its reasonable price.

In general, it's a well-recommended restaurant.

YELLOW CAB MANILA

Posted by Meryl (proud pinay)

After so many years that I haven't seen my ex-colleagues in my first job, we decided to meet at Yellow Cab Pizza last year located at Recto Manila. Yellow Cab is a quick casual restaurant and offers delectable American tasting pizzas, specializing in New York-style pizzas.

Aside from wide variety of pizza, they also offer pasta, hot wings, baked potato and drinks. In some branches they serve calzone which is made from pizza dough and stuffed with cheese(usually mozzarella cheese) and a variety of other stuffings. The dough is folded over and sealed on one edge. New York Finest pizza and Charlie Chan Chicken Pasta are my all time favorites. New York's Finest is topped with ham, pepperoni, sausages, ground beef, bacon, mushroom, onions, black olives, red and green bell pepper. You can pay for an additional toppings if you want too. The sizes of their pizza are 10 inches(good for 3 persons), 14 inches (good for 6 persons), and 18 inches which is really huge and good for groups with big appetite. The Charlie Chan Chicken Pasta is kinda spicy. It has mushrooms, roasted peanuts and chicken strips. But my favorite pizza and pasta that I ordered was not so good in this particular branch. The pizza was so dry and the pasta was salty (I'm not generalizing on the entire chain). However, the staff here were accommodating, they greeted us when we ordered at the counter and they served the food on our table... which is unusual to most branches where you have to pick up your order at the counter. They were also attentive if the customer still needs anything.

In Yellow Cab you have to give your order at the counter and the food is served in a box with a plastic fork and knives. This particular branch has smaller space than other branches but they have 2nd floor to accommodate more customers. Foods are filling, pizzas are fully loaded and prices are reasonable.

DON HENRICO'S

Posted by Meryl (proud pinay)

When craving for Italian dishes the first restaurant that comes into my mind is Don Henrico's. It’s a casual Italian dining restaurant with a twist to suit the taste of most Filipinos. Originally from Baguio City, with few branches in Manila and nearby cities.

They have wide variety of flavorful pizza that will surely satisfy your taste buds. Aside from pizza they also offer a great selection of pasta, appetizers, salads, soups, calzone, dessert, beverages and even special meal. Foods come in big servings, good for family or groups with big appetite. Mozarella sticks(good when still hot) served with marinara sauce is my favorite appetizer. The Buffalo Chicken is definitely a must try! The chicken is mouthwatering, juicy, cooked perfectly, coated with good tasting sauce and perfect with their creamy dipping sauce. Don Henrico's Supreme Pizza and Bacon Cheeseburger Pizza are so delicious(crisp on the outside, hot on the inside). Don Henricos pizza topped with beef, ham, pepperoni, mushroom, pineapple tidbits, onion, bell pepper and black olives. The Bacon Cheeseburger Pizza has a great combination of beef, mushroom, bacon, lettuce, tomato with pickle relish. Spaghetti alla Puttanesca with black olives, anchovies, capers, chill and garlic in tomato sauce is good. Actually, most pastas are good but nothing superb.

This resto has a cozy and inviting ambiance. A nice place to celebrate occasions. The staff are accomodating but not so attentive if the customers still need anything.
The foods are filling, satisfying and worth the price.

DENCIO'S BAR AND GRILL

Posted by Meryl (proud pinay)

Held my despedida in this Filipino-themed dine-in restaurant that serves grilled, sizzling and other authentic Filipino dishes in a nicely interiored and relaxing set-up. They have branches are all over Metro Manila and nearby cities. Mostly found in big malls and and in popular restaurant rows.

Some characters from Pugad Baboy(a famous comic strip in the Philippines)are portrayed in Dencio's ads and menus. Their place mats, table napkins and menus have "Pugad Dencio's" logo(Pugad Baboy and the owner's name-Dencio, combined). They have wide variety of Filipino dishes to choose from. They offer meat, seafood and vegetable dishes, salad, appetizers, soups, noodles and rice, desserts and drinks. One of their house specialties is the sizzling pork sisig. Sisig is made from chopped parts of pig’s head usually seasoned with chili peppers and calamansi(calamansi is like a tropical lime). I ordered sinigang na baboy(sour soup pork), nilagang baka(beef stew), sisig, karekare(stewed oxtail, beef with variety of vegetables in peanut sauce), inihaw na pusit(grilled squid) and calamares. The foods are good but nothing ultrafantastic. My friends and I are kinda disappointed with the inihaw na pusit coz it's not well-grilled (seemed really raw) so we asked the staff to recook it. I've been to Dencio's restaurant a couple of times but based from my last experience the foods tasted a little different unlike before. The service was slow. Hope they can be more attentive to customers coz oftentimes it takes a while to get what you requested. However, I gave this resto a two thumbs up for the nicely decorated interior. Ambiance has a welcoming atmosphere. The restrooms are clean, with sufficient supply of paper towels and soap. Foods are a bit pricey.

T.G.I. FRIDAY’S

Posted by Meryl (proud pinay)

T.G.I. FRIDAY’S is one of my favorite restaurants since the year 2000 when it comes to American food. It has this relaxing, cool, lively and fun atmosphere to its name. The ambiance is cozy with comfortable environment. This is a nice place to unwind after having a stressful day.

I have no complain with regards to the taste of their food, it's absolutely delicious with satisfactory sized meal. They offer variety of appetizers. Sesame Jack Chicken Strips, fried to a golden brown perfection and tossed in Jack Daniels sauce. They also have crispy Fried Calamari and served with marinara sauce, Chicken Fajita Nachos with pico de gallo and sour cream, deep fried Buffalo Wings in spicy sauce...so yummy, served with tangy cheese dressing. Friday's Three For All is good for sharing, loaded with fried mozzarella, potato skins and spicy buffalo wings with sour cream, green onions, marina sauce and cheese dressing. The Fried Mozarella is crusty on the outside, filled with a creamy surprise on the inside. They have so many varieties of steak and meat dishes. Steaks are served with vegetables or salad and fries with dips. The Texas Ribeye has very interesting mix of flavors, seasoned well...so mouthwatering. Pork Liempo is kinda garlicky and sweet, grilled and served with java rice, ensalada and vinegar and garlic sauce. Spicy New Orleans(pasta) with chicken, mushrooms, onion, red peppers in tomato sauce is good too. Their chicken club sandwich is layered with grilled chicken breast, ham, cheese and bacon. The fries tastes different from anyone else's fries, potatoes are cooked perfectly and not too greasy. The Jack Daniels range are absolutely delicious. Try them to see just how yummy they are. Jack Daniel's Glazed Ribs (with great spices!).. grilled perfectly and glazed with Jack Daniel's sauce, served with crispy fries. Jack Daniel's Salmon...grilled and served with vegetables and choice of cheddar cheese and mashed potatoes or rice. There are lots of burgers to choose from and are huge servings and served with fries, salad and dips. I like the Jack Daniel's burger with cheese and crispy bacon and some veggies stacked inside the bun. They have variety of drinks..sodas, milkshakes, coffee, tea, fruit juices, smoothies, wine and beer. For dessert I like the mocha mud pie. Foods here are very filling. Sometimes they are giving out red promotional coupons with a really great bargain!

This restaurant has an American atmosphere as vintage decor and pop culture knickknacks. The place is covered with things to look at. There are objects such as trumpets, old sets of traffic lights, old vendor signs, black and white pictures and other memorabilia, just about anything else that can be bolted to a wall. This is all bound to keep people of all ages amused.

The service is good, staff are friendly, bubbly, cheerful, courteous and accomodating once you enter the resto. They are neat-looking and each wearing their own badges, numerous accessories and a hat. You can also request for the staff to sing a birthday song if anyone of you is celebrating a birthday. You will also find some bar staff doing some sort of tricks with glasses and bottles, spinning them around and throwing them up in the air. This adds to the fun of making the cocktails. Some of their branches have smoking and non-smoking area too.

Foods here are a bit expensive but then the taste is excellent so I could say that the prices are just right.

MAX'S RESTAURANT

Posted by Meryl (proud pinay)

I recall having fond memories with my family, relatives and friends at Max Restaurant in the Philippines. Max's is an upscale sit-down setting restaurant known for their tasty fried chicken and Filipino homestyle meals and proudly calls itself the House That Fried Chicken Built. They also have branches here in US specifically in California and Hawaii. The restaurant caters to families and has great variety of dishes to try and they've been around for a long time. My mom and dad's first date during their courting stage was here too hehehe.

Their chicken with skin-on is seasoned perfectly and deep friend to perfection (without breading so it still looks like and tastes chicken)--crispy golden skin on the outside and tender, juicy, flavorful on the inside. It tastes almost like my dad's chicken hehehe. The fried chicken goes well with the banana ketchup. If you're in the mood for red meat, try the kare kare with the bagoong. I'm not a big fan of kare kare before but when I tried the kare kare of Max, I started to like it. Yummy!!!. Karekare is a very Southeast Asian infuence entee made up of chunks of tender oxtail, string beans and other veggies and tripe in a peanut with rich orangey-caramel color, mild 'bagoong' as an accompaniment. They also have some mouthwatering dishes like sinigang na hipon (shrimp in a tamarind-based soup), pork sinigang which is delightfully tart with lots of big meat chuncks of tender pork with some veggies like taro and okra. You may also like the sisig- tender and crisp pork morels chopped together in a tart or tangy sauce with just a hint of peppery spice. They also have lumpia (fried egg rolls) or fresh lumpia with sauce, lechon kawali, chopseuy and garlic rice. Crispy pata which is a deep fried pig's feet and/or knuckles, fried to a crispy, golden brown color. Once you get past the crispy crackling pork skin, you find the tenderest meat falling off the bone. The dishes are simple yet complex and incredibly satisfying. If you're up for dessert, you don't wanna miss the halo-halo. Another good treat is the kalamansi iced tea! So refreshing and makes you feel somewhat healthy for eating all that fried goodness.

It can get packed especially on weekends. This is a good place to go to for a special occasions.
Service is friendly, a little slow at times. Prices are reasonable.

JOLLIBEE

Posted by Meryl (proud pinay)

Jollibee is to the Philippines what McDonald's is to America. Most kids in the Philippines like my niece and nephew are a big fan of Jollibee which is a Filipino fast food chain in the Philippines. Since there are many Filipinos all over the world, Jollibee has expanded and established franchises to other parts of the world. They have branches in California and I can't wait to eat there sometime (whenever I go back there). The foods here are mostly cooked the way Filipinos like it. One of my top favorites here is the juicylicious, crispylicious chickenjoy. I really like the way they serve the chicken which is absolutely crispy and golden brown along with the hot rice and gravy. It’s just so delicious and flavorful which can either be spicy or mild. I also like the spaghetti with sweet sauce, hotdogs, sausage and cheese-what differentiates it as being made Filipino-style. When it comes to dessert, sundaes and peach mango pie are present. Peach mango pie is a pie with mango and peaches wrapped in that flour based wrapper and usually served hot (the crust is crunchy just like how McDonald's apple pies used to be back in the day). They also serve hamburgers, fries(crispy and light), soups(macaroni, sotanghon), tangy palabok(but I'm not a big fan of their palabok), assorted different coolers, halohalo supreme, swirly bitz which is like cookies and cream or you can also mix it with m&m’s, mais con hielo which is made up of corn, ice and milk. For breakfast they serve pancakes, hotdog, steak, longganisa, corned beef, beef tapa, chicken tocino and others. They also have side dishes like macaroni salad, fresh green salad and mashed potato. Jollibee is also a place where little kids always wanted to have their birthday parties in the Philippines and you can request for the big bee mascot to show up during the party.

When it comes to their service, it is really satisfying since their staff are friendly, nice and are really fast in serving the customers. They address customer as "ma'am" or "sir". And if there is a problem the manager is always there to the rescue. Jollibee is good when you want something fast and reasonably priced.

PIZZA HUT

Posted by Meryl (proud pinay)

My niece is a pizza lover so we decided to have a snack at Pizza Hut after shopping. This branch has a very good service and friendly waiter. The one who took our order was kinda funny but all our orders were taken carefully and he came to our table in a timely fashion. Very quick and efficient. We had hot and unbelievably crusty-chewy pizza, creamy dreamy pasta, yummy bread sticks and garlic bread. The order is correct, the ambiance is nice. However, there are some branches which are not as good as this one and I think it all depends on what Pizza Hut you are dining in and order from.

ICE BERG

Posted by Meryl (proud pinay)

One of my friends wanted to see me for the last time before she left the Philippines and so we decided to meet at ICEBERG in Trinoma Mall since it is not crowded in that area. Iceberg is a casual dining restaurant that specializes in various ice cream treats. The ambiance is nice with several colorful pictures on the wall of different ice cream concoctions. They also serve variety of desserts like con hielo, banana split, parfaits, sandae and halo-halo(from the Tagalog word halo "mix" is a filipino dessert that is a mixture of shaved ice and milk with sugar palm fruit (kaong), coconut sport (macapuno), kidney beans, jackfruits, sago, purple yam, sweetened corn kernells, crushed young rice(pinipig) topped with lecheflan or ube halaya or ice cream) , Iceberg has more than yummy desserts ,they also serve meals like teriyaki steak, ribeye tabsilog, beef bbq and spaghetti with fried chicken. The desserts are good and this resto is one that your children may enjoy.

If you are craving for grilled ,barbeque and sizzling Filipino foods, Gerry's Gill is the best place for you. They have great selection of the Philippine's best dishes in a cozy casual ambiance. They are known for their scrumptuos dishes. This includes mouthwatering food specialties such as grilled squid, flavorful sisig, calamari appetizer, crispy pata (deep fried pig's leg), bangus ala pobre, chop seuy, pork barbeque, sinigang, liempo (chargrilled pork cutlet), blue marlin steak, lechon kawali, sizzling seafood and other seafood dishes and meat dishes. I've been here several times and this is one of my favorite places to eat even though some of the dishes are a bit pricey. Ahh.. I was so in love with the food coz they are awesomely tasty. I will definitely give it five stars! My officemates and I really enjoyed the foods here. However, the noise is unbearable and it gets too crowded.

NORTH PARK RESTAURANT

Posted by Meryl (proud pinay)

The place is cozy. The heady smell of their Chinese food puts us right smack into our own comfort zones. The taste of the foods here are really good! Great thing their place mats also serve as their menus. Unquestionably, they serve the best yang chow ever. Yang Chow fried rice is definitely a highlight. It has a generous serving! The lemon chicken has crunchy coating with just the right zest. The sweet and sour boneless pork, pork rib, soft tofu veggie stir fry, chinese brocolli, calamares, lechon macau(yummy and so crispy) are some of my all time favorites. Every food they serve will really quell your hunger pains. They also serve free soup as appetizer and free hot tea. Love the food! fast and good service! clean place.

YELLOW CAB MAKATI

Posted by Meryl (proud pinay)

We celebrated my officemate's birthday in an innovative restaurant concept, specializing in New York-style pizzas. They are positioned as a quick casual restaurant, serving great variety of pizzas categorized as Classic and Specialty Pizza. New York's Finest is my favorite. Their regular size pizza is 10 inches which is good for 3 persons, 14 inches is good for 6 persons and the 18 inches pizza is really huge! We ordered New York Finest and Pepperoni Pizza. New York's Finest was kinda greasy but was so yummylicious... topped with ham, pepperoni, sausages, ground beef, bacon, mushroom, onions, black olives, red and green bell pepper. Pepperoni Pizza is topped with pepperoni and mushrooms. We also ate
calzone which is made from pizza dough and stuffed with cheese(usually mozzarella cheese),
and a variety of other stuffings. The dough is folded over (somewhat like Red Ribbon Bakeshop's empanada but bigger in size) and sealed on one edge.

They also serve calzone, hotwings, spaghetti, pasta, baked potato and drinks. What I like about Yellow Cab’s pizza is that it is fully loaded and you’ll always be so full after eating.

SOMETHING FISHY LIBIS

Posted by Meryl (proud pinay)

My officemates and I planned to go to Something Fishy restaurant. It is famous for its "eat-all-you-can" breakfast buffet. This seafood restaurants is populated because it is strategically located near the corporate offices mostly with graveyard-shift schedules and it offers a big breakfast buffet for a very affordable price with wide variety of breakfast items to choose from. Food choices include spring rolls, pancakes, scrambled eggs, bangus, pansit palabog, garlic rice, palitaw, adobo, tapa, tocino, molo soup, plain rice etc. The daily breakfast buffet starts so early that attracts people coming from discos, shows, clubbing, and work (i.e. call center agents) etc.
