CORN IN COCONUT MILK (GINATAANG MAIS RECIPE)

Posted by Meryl (proud pinay)

Hi guys! I wanted to share with you the recipe of ginataang mais which I had for my snack last time. Btw, ginataang Mais is a Filipino snack made from corn, glutinous rice and coconut milk.
Ingredients:
1 cup whole kernel corn
1/2 cup glutinous rice or malagkit
4 cups coconut milk
3/4 cup granulated sugar

Procedure: Combine glutinous rice and coconut milk in a cooking pot, then turn on the heat. Bring to a boil. Stir the mixture to prevent the glutinous rice from sticking. Continue cooking, stirring occasionally until rice is almost done. This will take about 15 minutes. Add the whole kernel corn and sugar. Continue cooking, stirring occasionally until rice and corn are cooked.

FOOD TRIP FRIDAY #4

Posted by Meryl (proud pinay)

First off, hopefully I can post a meal that I cooked myself for my next entry on Food Trip Friday next week. These past few weeks I'm not in the mood to cook, I'm feeling lazy =(
Anyway, my entry for this week is just a breakfast.
Scroll down please...
Before we left Hilton Promenade Hotel for our days tour,
we always had our breakfast at San Francisco Oven located inside the hotel.
I had Ziti Pasta in Alfredo Sauce, bread toast and Caesar Salad while
my husband had a pizza.
The next day, we had an American meal-toast , potatoes, eggs,
bacon, french toast and juice.

-French Toast with syrup-

FOOD TRIP FRIDAY # 2

My second entry for FOOD TRIP FRIDAY is BAKED MUSSELS. My husband was craving baked mussels these past few months. Thankfully, when we went to the restaurant, they had baked mussels since they are not always available. How I wish fresh mussels are available in grocery stores here so I can bake them for him whenever he craves them. This is easy to prepare with some cheese and other ingredients, giving a flavorful taste. In the Philippines, mussels are mostly available in the local market and are pretty cheap but baked mussels are pretty expensive in most restaurants there. How I wish I own a resto in the Philippines. L.O.L! ^_^To join Food Trip Friday just click the button above.

Whenever I visit Clang's and Cacai's blog, I encourage myself to join Food Trip Friday. Anyway, even if it's late to post my first entry here, I made up my mind to join before I forgot again. My first entry is Chinese food. For take out, we usually pick General Tso's Chicken, shrimp, salmon fish, vegetable lumpia (spring roll), crab eggroll, barbeque, crab rangoon, mushroom and rice whenever we buy at the Chinese Buffet Restaurant but if for dine-in I can eat more than that since it is a buffet! L.O.L! "Tara kain po tayo ^_^"
