OUR EASTER SUNDAY CELEBRATION

Posted by Meryl (proud pinay)

How's your Easter Sunday celebration guys? My husband and I had a great Easter Sunday. We went to the church in the morning then had an Easter lunch together with my parents-in-law and had a good talk thereafter. Oh! I can't wait for my husband and I to hide Easter eggs for our little girl to hunt and tell her about the Easter Bunny. Being a soon-to-be parent is really exciting!

EASTER EGG/ EASTER SUNDAY

Posted by Meryl (proud pinay)

Hi guys! Are you excited about celebrating Easter Sunday? How are you gonna celebrate it? Maybe if you are a parent with little kids you might conduct an Easter egg hunt. Wouldn't it be fun doing the old tradition of dying or painting chicken eggs or do the modern custom of substituting chicken eggs with chocolate eggs or plastic eggs filled with confectioneries? Oh, I'm so excited to do this tradition with our daughter soon! It's pretty fun hiding some eggs that she will have to hunt for on Easter morning. Anyway, I wanted to share with you a picture of the Easter egg that my father-in-law painted for last year's Easter...

OUR COLD VALENTINE'S DAY CELEBRATION

Posted by Meryl (proud pinay)

Yep! my husband and I had a COLD Valentine's Day celebration as I mentioned recently. This is in continuation of my post about the topic "MY COLD VALENTINE" by the way.

"Cold" in a literal sense that it was snowing on that special day. Geeez! I am really looking forward to spring and how I wish the weather will be better in the next couple of weeks so we can do some outdoor activities. Anyway, my husband turned the cold day into a warm and romantic Valentine's Day celebration.

Two days before Valentine's Day I was surprised with a special package delivered in our house. Guess what? He surprised me with a Hoodie-Footie Snuggle Suit hehe! I have no idea that he will give it as a gift coz we are laughing at the Hoodie-Footie commercial before. I told him that "If I were to wear that, I will look like a Care Bear" but deep inside, I wanted one of those hehe! It's a very special gift that I like and that truly made me smile upon opening the package and it's also a nice gift to keep me warm during winter. The hoodie-footie snuggle suit shown in the image above is personalized with my name. Together with it are heart-shaped chocolates, Valentine card, a red bag to store the hoodie-footie suit and other accessories. The hoodie-footie when worn looks like the image below:
By the way, during special occasions, my husband usually gives me a teddy bear but now I am the life size teddy bear (sort of) hehe! I am one of the care bears now!
On the day itself, I'm just expecting a dinner in a restaurant since I already got my gifts earlier. After he got up from the bed in the morning, he went outside and got the boxes of chocolates that he stored in our pick-up truck and after a couple of hours, I got a flower delivery from a flower shop. My husband was full of surprises and he is so sweet! Isn't he?

We ended up the day with dinner at Lone Star Steakhouse even though the wind outside was so strong that snow got into my eyes and it was hard for me to see what I am stepping on. That's how we celebrated our Valentine...simple and warm in a cold weather.

MY COLD VALENTINE ^_^

Posted by Meryl (proud pinay)

A friend of mine asked me "How's your valentine?" I told her that I had a COLD VALENTINE! ^_^ L.O.L! Literally, my husband and I celebrated a COLD VALENTINE last week because it was SNOWING that day hehe!. Anyway my husband turned the cold day into a simple, warm and romantic Valentine's Day celebration with gifts, chocolate and flowers that he gave me and we also had dinner in a restaurant that night. The wind was so strong that snow got into my eyes and it was hard for me to see what I am stepping on. Over all we had a good Valentine's Day celebration and I will talk more about it soon (& more pics soon).

How about guys? How did you celebrate Valentine's Day with your loved ones?

MY HUSBAND'S 30TH BIRTHDAY! / BIRTHDAY CAKE THAT I BAKED

Posted by Meryl (proud pinay)

It was my husband's 30th birthday last week! I'm so busy looking at my mother-in-law's cook book and even searching online on what kind of cake to bake until I came up with the black forest cake recipe. Baking a cake is not easy for me as I am not a chef nor a cook and it's a fact that I just learned how to cook when I got married.

Oooops! Don't look too much at the cake because I'm really disappointed with my presentation (hehehe!). I guess I got so tired easily with this pregnancy thing and my lower back ached while decorating the cake that is why I didn't do it justice with the look of it but I should say that the taste was really great! My husband liked it! This is the third time that I baked a cake and I'll make sure next time that my cake will be perfect!

We celebrated his birthday on the day itself and celebrated it again at my in-laws house on the weekend. I wish my hubby all the best that life could possibly offer.

By the way, I also want to share with you the cake that I baked for my husband's birthday last year. This is my first trial:

I also baked a heart-shaped cake for our Valentine's Day celebration last year. This is the second cake that I made.

THANK YOU FOR THE GIFTS! / CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION

Posted by Meryl (proud pinay)

Hi guys! Hope each and everyone's Christmas celebration went well. My husband and I celebrated our Christmas celebration at mom and dad's house (my parents in-law) exchanging gifts and having a Christmas lunch. I received nice gifts from my in-laws and a special gift from my husband that I love so much - a new DSLR camera! My husband knows that I love taking pictures so this is his surprise gift for me. I guess I will be using the DSLR camera more often than my old Sony digital camera that I bought in the year 2005 when I was still working back home. Plus after Christmas day, I received a nice sleepwear, newsletter and card from a very nice blogger friend of mine, Demcy!

First of all, I would like to greet everyone a Very Merry Christmas!!!Hope your Christmas preparations went smoothly and your Christmas Celebration will be great.
I would like to share with you some of our pictures that my husband and I did for our Christmas preparation right after Thanks Giving Day.

My husband putting up the star. We also decorated our stairs with Christmas garland, lights, and other ornaments
and our front door with a wreath.
Our Christmas tree.
This snowman reminds me of the real snowman that my husband and I made last year.
I'm not sure if I can make it this year since I feel nauseous most of the time.

This is the new ornament that we have which my sister-in-law gave us.
The 2 snowmen represent me and my husband
and look at the text written in the tummy of the snowman in red.
It has the word "BABY" with a down arrow...
My husband prepared hot chocolate with marshmallows and
finger foods to eat while decorating the Christmas tree.
Plus, he played Christmas songs as background music to feel the Christmas spirit.

This year, we bought our fresh Christmas tree right after Thanksgiving Day at Alfeldt's Christmas Tree Farm. At Alfeldt's Christmas tree farm, you can choose and cut your own Christmas tree. There is also a gift shop where you can buy Christmas decor and your kids can have picture taking with Santa Claus in costume. (More pictures here.)

They also have a gift shop where you can buy Christmas stuff and have picture taking with Santa Claus. They will even give you a free small Christmas tree plant that you can plant in your yard.

Since I am nauseous when we went at the Christmas Tree Farm this year, I am not in the mood to take several pictures ( I just took 2 pictures) but I would love to share with you some of the pictures we had last year at the farm.

Here are the pictures last year. Scroll down please:

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!(4TH OF JULY)

Posted by Meryl (proud pinay)

My husband was off work today and we will go to my parents-in-laws' house later for lunch. I am more excited for tomorrow, Independence Day that we will celebrate at my bro-in-laws' place with fireworks and food together with some friends.

Independence Day here in the United States is a federal holiday celebrated on the Fourth of July. The United States claimed its Independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain on July 4,1776 and so Democracy was born. Americans celebrate freedom and independence each year with barbecues, picnics, fireworks, parades, carnivals, concerts, baseball games, ceremonies and family gatherings. To all the people of America Happy Independence Day!

CELEBRATING MY SPECIAL DAY

Posted by Meryl (proud pinay)

I am so thankful to the Lord that I was given another year to celebrate my birthday together with my sweet and kind husband. Flowers with a card, teddy bear and balloons were delivered to our house. It doesn't surprise me at all since every time my birthday comes I received a special delivery from him. I find it very sweet though and I am so thankful that God gave him to me. Isn't he so sweet? *giggles* hehe!

We just had a simple celebration on my special day. We had our dinner at Red Lobster Restaurant.(Here comes my food review again! l.o.l which fits the title of my blog). I find the meal very tasty and delicious. The starter itself is so filling and mouth watering, composed of lobsters, fried clams with dipping sauce and fresh mushroom stuffed with seafood and smothered in cheese. We also had some good tasting bread with it. Yeah, I don't think about dieting as of now. Maybe someday, when I find my body shaped like a Coca-Cola in can. L.O.L! So for the main course I chose the meal with rice pilaf, lobster, grilled sweet and spicy shrimp, fried coconut shrimp, Caesar salad and french fries. I was so stuffed that I didn't have enough room for dessert. I gave up! LOL! My husband enjoyed his grilled steak(he said that it was grilled perfectly), rock lobster, garden salad and fries. The restaurant is clean and the ambiance is great. Since it's late at night, my husband and I went malling and shopped for some items the day after. He bought me some new clothes for gifts. I told him before that I don't want him to give me expensive gifts, new clothes are enough for me. So we can save up some money in case we need it. So that's all for my simple birthday celebration I thanked God for another enjoyable birthday He gave me. Btw, I would like to give thanks to all of you who greeted me and to my parents-in-law who gave me an advance birthday celebration. Also, I just got a card today from my sister-in-law, her husband and Sean. Thank you so much and may you be blessed always.
